Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our maple cabinet door styles

What cabinet door styles do you offer?

We build three families of doors: Shaker (our most popular five-piece solid maple profile), traditional raised- and detailed-panel doors, and contemporary slim-profile slab doors — solid maple on Shaker and traditional, with a smooth MDF panel on high-gloss and slab fronts, and a plywood box behind every one. Within those you'll find white, grey, navy, sage, high-gloss, and natural wood-stain finishes — all viewable in our Kitchener showroom or previewed in your own kitchen in 3D. We’ll schedule a visit or in-showroom consultation at your convenience.

What's the difference between Shaker and flat-panel doors?

A Shaker door has a five-piece solid maple frame with a recessed centre panel, giving a timeless look that suits classic and transitional kitchens. A flat-panel (slab) door is a single smooth front with no grain lines or trim, for a clean, modern feel. Both mount on a plywood cabinet box; slab fronts come in solid maple or a smooth MDF panel for high-gloss finishes, so the choice is purely about style.

Are all your doors made from solid maple?

Most are. Our Shaker and traditional door styles are built from solid maple, while our high-gloss and slim slab fronts use a smooth MDF panel — the better choice for a flawless painted or gloss finish with no grain showing through. Whatever the door, the cabinet box behind it is plywood (never particle board), with soft-close hinges and dovetail drawers standard, so it holds hardware and resists moisture for the long haul.

Can I see a door style in my own kitchen before ordering?

You can. Our 3D design service drops your chosen door style, colour, and hardware into a rendering of your actual kitchen, so you can see how a navy Shaker or high-gloss slab will look before committing. You can also handle real door samples at our Victoria Street showroom.

Which door styles are most popular in Kitchener?

White and grey Shaker remain the most-requested doors in Kitchener kitchens because they pair with almost any countertop and hardware. Navy Shaker and natural wood stains are growing fast for islands and two-tone layouts, while high-gloss and slim slab doors lead in modern condos and new builds.’

Do different door styles cost different amounts?

Yes — door style is one of the main factors in a kitchen's price. Simple slab and standard Shaker doors are the most affordable, while detailed traditional profiles, glazes, and high-gloss finishes cost more to produce. We'll price your exact door choice as part of a free, itemized estimate so there are no surprises.–
